"...her Ladyship again enquired minutely into the particulars of their journey, gave them directions as to the best method of packing, and was so urgent on the necessity of placing gowns in the only right way, that Maria thought herself obliged, on her return, to undo all the work of the morning, and pack her trunk afresh."
---Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
And so it begins. Our last group meeting before our departure to England, and her Ladyship, Professor Benander, inspects our packing prowess. Although she was much more kind and gentle than the Lady Catherine, I still felt "obliged to undo all the work of the morning and pack my trunk afresh."
Can I really spend 4weeks in the UK with only 4 shirts to my name? Can I really get all my stuff in a bag smaller than the backpack I use for school? Those shrinky-dink bags of Professor Benander's looked amazing, kind of like those shrink-wrapped freezer bags As Seen On TV!!
Okay, I will start afresh, I will add a better raincoat (thanks, Prof.!) and a robe (thanks, Katie!) I will purge 6 shirts in favor of copies of the Bronte sisters, and I will consider purchasing my shampoo in England. More than that I cannot promise.

I am laughing out loud at your literary comparisons. You are too funny! When I got home after our packing discussion, I also felt compelled to "pack my trunk afresh". I really don't think I can do without paper copies of our texts, but I don't have any thing to jettison. And that enormous first aid kit from UC International! Even those shrink wrap bags won't make that smaller...Hey,BTW, have you read the fan fiction P&P series, Fitzwilliam Darcy: Country Gentleman, by Pamela Aiden? I thought it was the BEST spin off ever.
